The images i create are my legacy

PHOTOS AS A LEGACY

That is a powerful notion

Sometimes, it hits me just how long images last. Generations from now, I won’t be here, but this art—your family’s story—will endure. It helps me understand just how important it is that I create images of you and your family that feel like you and also feel like art.

Maybe I believe so deeply in the meaning behind family photography because I cherish my own family so much. Not just my husband and our daughters, but my parents. They are the reason I’m a photographer to begin with.

While I always gravitated toward photography in school, I chose a different career path after college. But my mom saw me searching for my passion and pushed me to remember how much I loved to create images. And today, here I am, eternally grateful and full to the brim with joy that I get to love what I do and who I work with every day. (Let’s hear it for moms, right?)

Fun facts about me.

i get it…

I know how all-consuming the routine can feel

You’re juggling so much and trying to balance your own needs with those of your family. But then you look into the backyard and see your child blowing bubbles. Totally content. Totally present.

Childhood is a magical, fleeting time in our lives, and you feel so lucky you have the privilege to witness it up close. THAT is what we’re documenting in your images—the wonder and joy, the freedom kids feel to simply be, and the love you all share.

“Kristen's talent and skill with photography speaks for itself in each photo. She was always quick to reply and took into account everything little thing I wanted for my NB session. She was great with my newborn, and he always was handled with care and was comfortable. Kristen knew the right poses that makes postpartum mamas feel great getting into the pictures. Highly recommend!”

These memories matter

One of my favorite images is a portrait of my grandmother on her wedding day. It’s more than 70 years old at this point, but it is so striking and beautiful. I am so lucky to have grown up in a home surrounded by family photos—in albums, on the walls, collages. When I was small, pouring through an album and asking who’s that? And that? Have I met them? Like with my grandmother’s portrait, being able to touch and hold these images made me feel connected to my family and my history.

That is the power of printed photography. Photos become our memory keepers.

Archival artwork is a huge part of what I do. I can’t wait to help create images that’ll become your memory keepers.
